The Channel Islands ferry company wanted to promote their service to families for short breaks. This commercial was shot in two days, in the beautiful sunshine. It’s still running, although I expect the prices have increased.

Highlight of the Shoot:

The weather. It had been a terrible April, and then the minute we arrived in the Isle of Wight, unbroken sunshine. The production included one of Location Lighting Londons 40 foot lighting trucks with generator and two sparks, just in case it was so overcast we would have to light it big time. They spent the days on deck chairs, getting a suntan, and didn’t have to get even ONE light out !

Lowlight of the Shoot:

We rigged the camera onto a rollercoaster at Black Gang Chine for the ‘white knuckle rides’ part of the film. It took a few hours and then it was tested…cue nerve shredding stress as it went round by itself, seemingly missing overhangs and other structures by a whisker. They crew were spot on though, and it survived.
